Job description:

The Food Safety and Hygiene Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing food safety and hygiene programs to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This role involves overseeing daily operations, conducting inspections, training staff, and continuously improving our food safety practices.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive food safety and hygiene programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the facility to identify and address potential food safety hazards.
  • Monitor and document food safety and hygiene practices to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve food safety issues, including contamination and foodborne illness incidents.
  • Provide training and education to staff on food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure food safety and quality standards are met throughout the supply chain.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to food safety inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory changes in food safety and hygiene.
  • Lead the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives in food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections and ensure prompt resolution of any non-compliance issues.

Job Qualifications:

  • Certified in HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), ISO 22000, or other relevant food safety certifications.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a food safety, quality assurance, or similar role in the [industry, e.g., food manufacturing, hospitality] sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and standards, including FDA, USDA, and local health department requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and train a team effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with food safety management software.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during inspections.
